Domesticated Animals in Sports

The only animals used in major sports today are domesticated ones: horses, bovines (calves, bulls, and steers), dogs, and cocks. Horses are the most versatile sporting animal, participating on a large scale in sports besides racing and rodeos. . However, none of these sports are performed by horses alone. All of them include humans, who ride the horses, run alongside them, or are pulled behind in carts.

What is Polo?

Not the fragrance or the clothing line... I am talking about the sport Polo, the one played a top a four-legged friend, more commonly known as a horse.

Definition:
Polo is a team sport played on horseback in which the objective is to score goals against an opposing team. Players score by driving a small white plastic or wooden ball into the opposing team's goal using a long-handled mallet. The traditional sport of polo is played at speed on a large grass field up to 300 yards in length, and each polo team consists of four riders and their mounts. (wikipedia)

This game has been dated back to 3000 B.C. in India.... wow, I bet very few games can boast that kind of lineage!! If you are curious to learn more about the game of polo, look here.
